Second Harvest proudly launches a capital campaign funding a major programmatic expansion to nourish our community
Second Harvest is proud to announce a $2 million capital campaign to fund a new nonprofit retail venture, Harvest on Main Community Market, that will bring affordable nutrition back to Sharpsburg. The campaign, A Harvest for All, positions Second Harvest to renew our commitment to this high-need neighborhood and operationalize a sustainable approach to addressing food insecurity in our community.
Our capital campaign is the driving force to achieve a bold vision: To wipe Sharpsburg off the food desert map. Our commitment to accessibility, affordability, and community sets us apart and addresses the distinct needs of our Sharpsburg neighbors. And beyond Sharpsburg, Harvest on Main is the answer to “What’s for dinner?” for households across our community. Opening in early 2026, our 2,000-square-foot market will be stocked with a carefully curated selection of fresh produce, quality meat, and local finds. For those in search of grab-and-go favorites, Harvest on Main will have made-to-order deli sandwiches, scratch-made dinners, soups and sides, and baked goods for every occasion.
From Seed to Harvest
Since 2021, Second Harvest has aspired to be the community’s destination for quality, affordable goods, and for our locations to serve a role beyond retail as essential neighborhood hubs. With A Harvest for All, we are breaking new ground for our organization – pursuing the same mission with expanded goals and a vision for unprecedented impact.
The campaign has reached a major milestone towards our $2 million goal, securing $1,650,000 in the leadership phase of the campaign. More than 150 donors have responded to our bold charge in transformational ways – forever changing how our neighbors put food on the table.
